making time for my self!
I want to tell you about my recent experience at Gabe + Angel, an organic nail and beauty bar in Oakville, but before I tell you how much I loved the entire spa experience, I should tell you how much I needed it.
We have a great routine at home and things are usually under control despite our baby emptying out the kitchen cupboards and our toddler having energy that lasts longer than the energizer bunny. Our eldest son, Emilio is such a great help while he is enjoying summer with his friends. Summer has definitely kept me busier than usual with the kids home all day. Some days are seemingly perfect (and by perfect I mean no one threw a tantrum, including me), while other days leave me completely drained. Between preparing breakfast, lunches, and dinners with 100 snacks in between, cleaning up messes and chauffeuring the kids around, I completely neglected to do anything worthwhile for myself. My eye bags could tell you all about it.
I decided to treat myself to a well-deserved, kid-free spa day. I chose Gabe + Angel, an organic nail and beauty bar in Oakville. From the moment I walked in, I felt like a queen ready to be pampered. The aesthetic is so modern with it’s minimalistic feel, yet warm and inviting. I just nodded my head and said to myself, “yep, I’m definitely at the right place.”
This is my kind of zen, the room had the aroma of lavender and vanilla, it was such a nice detail to help set the mood of complete relaxation. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I was offered a lavender tea which I happily accepted. This tea was just divine and totally instagram worthy. I savoured every sip of this pretty purple tea! Can I take a bucket of it home?
Needless to say, it was easy for me to unwind while I set into my comfy chair and started with a Sugar Foot Scrub and Massage. This was literally one of the most incredible things I’ve experienced and I’ve travelled Europe, so this says a lot! Who knew a foot massage can be a total destresser? My feet are so soft, it would make babies jealous.
Next, we did a Beautiful Gel Manicure with my favourite colour red, of course! I can’t even tell you how much I needed this manicure. I absolutely loved their gentle work and I had to seriously tell myself to stop staring down at my beautiful nails, at least while I drove home!
We saved the best for last and finished with a Deluxe Organic Facial for 60 minutes. I normally don’t have the pleasure of enjoying facials because I have to be careful with various products other spas use. I have sensitive skin which is one of the main reasons I chose Gabe + Angel. They used 100% organic products with natural ingredients that are soft and gentle on all types of skin, so I knew it was products I could trust. The Deluxe Organic Facial was extremely relaxing and the products smelled simply amazing.
